Grey-cowled Wood Rail

Cowled. The most common rail in its range, and open seen popping briefly out of the marsh, or forest near water. Once called Grey-necked Wood Rail.

Not that different from common Grey-cowled Wood Rail but note wings more red/rufous and note red nape. Prefers seasonally flooded igapĆ³ (blackwater-flooded) forest, and otherwise found along streams (HBW).
