Note white undertail, yellow vent (white in west Mexico), and on male dark blue (almost black). Female yellow with greyish head and nape.

Note yellow neck all the way to the bill. The Thick-billed Euphonia is common and is more likely to be outside the forest than others.

On male, note yellow crown (cap) covering entire front and top of head, and black throat. Female is all yellow like Thick-billed Euphonia.
