Genus: Melanopareia (3 species, 5 worldwide)

Genus Melanopareia, Crescentchests, are small birds once thought to be tapaculos. They prefer arid scrub, and stay close to the ground.

A new species split from the Collared Crescentchest. Note darker throat and redder front. Found in Bolivia (northeast Santa Cruz) and Brazil (west Mato Grosso)
