Tall and thin and the largest of all Ground Tyrants. Grey with white forehead (above bill), some white on the wings, and a brownish cap/nape.

Compared to Taczanowski's Ground Tyrant, it is totally greyish (cinereous), and has a very thin light grey brow. Migrates to Peru in Austral winter.

Austral migrant from Chile to Peru. A relatively large Ground Tyrant, and larger than Rufous-naped Ground Tyrant, and with a white forehead.

A high Andean species tha breeds in Argentina, Chile, and southern Bolivia; in the Austral winter they move north into western Bolivia and southern Peru. (Athanas).

Compared to Cinereous Ground Tyrant, it is larger, less greyish and has a stronger white brow.

Austrai migrant from south Chile and Argentina to northern Peru on the Pacific and Uruguay on the Atlantic. Found in open fields.

  Note two-colored lower mandible, and overall drab greyish-brown.

Generally found at higher altitudes in open areas, but may be found down to 1000m. Note yellowish lower mandible base.
