Note distinctive call. Males gather in leks, and make an insect-like sound with a wing-snap.

Range: SA: nw Peru, Cordillera Azul and the hills of the upper Rio Mayo valley of San Martín and Loreto departments, above 500m elevation
   


A new species described by D. Lane in 2017. Similar to the tepui race of the Striolated Manakin (Western Striped Manakin), but vocally different (HBW).
