Crax is one of two genus of Curassow, the largest 'gamebird' in tropical America, ranging from 75 to 90 cm. Male Crax curassow have knobbed bills. Curassow like gamebirds are omnivorous.

Male and female almost identical (female has some white in crest). 'Erythrognatha' subspecies in the northwest part of the range has an orange bill, while others have a yellow bill.

Found in the 'los llanos' flooded ecosystem but more common in Venezuela. Female does not have a yellow cere and has some white streaks in the crest and on the belly.

Very rare and local, usually alongside rivers. Note black tipped bill. Male has red knob on bill and wattle, and white belly. Female has simple bill and red belly.
