Small and uncommon in mixed canopy flocks, and generally difficult to see well.

Seen in mangrove habitats. Could be confused with a Blue-grey Tanager. The 'minus' race is in a different habitat type along the Amazon river.

Rare, but found in a variety of habitats, so it is not clear what is limiting its range. Female is grey on top, buff on bottom with buff ear.

Found around Bogotá from 2500-3500 meters in cloud forest, gardens, and sub-paramo brush.
