  The Junin population of the 'schulenbergi' Plain-tailed Wren (Grey-browed Wren) sing differently, and are darker underneath (Athanas).

This wren seems to be completely tied to Chusquea bamboo. The subspecies in Peru has a different call and is called the Grey-browed Wren in some taxonomies (Athanas).
