Note vertical white stripe in front. Larger than emerald hummingbirds in genus chlorostilbon. 'Birds of Venezuela' writes 'despite its name, a dull, undistinguished hummingbird'. Female a bit duller.
Male with blue tinge to throat.
Possible female from front.
