Northern migrant. Females have darker wings than the similar [Summer Tanager]. The Scarlet Tanager migrates to south Peru, further south than most.

Northern migrant. The immature male is yellow with blotches of red. Female similar to [Scarlet Tanager] but with lighter yellower wings.
