Note sturdy black bill, brown iris, lack of crest, and compare wing bars vs. other tyrannulets. Note yellow crown usually visible on back of head. Frequently sings two note song.
At nest. HBW writes that the cup shaped nest of the Yellow-crowned Tyrannulet is only 4 cm. wide.
