Birds of Ecuador

Genus: Crax (2 species, 7 worldwide)

Crax is one of two genus of Curassow, the largest 'gamebird' in tropical America, ranging from 75 to 90 cm. Male Crax curassow have knobbed bills. Curassow like gamebirds are omnivorous.

Very rare and local, usually alongside rivers. Note black tipped bill. Male has red knob on bill and wattle, and white belly. Female has simple bill and red belly.
