Genus Leptotila are large doves, around 28 cm., which search for food on the ground.

Also known as the Brown-backed Dove, and sometimes considered a subspecies of the Grey-headed Dove.

Shy and uncommon. Normally seen inside the forest, usually on the ground. Note orangish back of head (and light eye) compared to much more common White-tipped Dove.
