Common, widespread and vocally distinctive.
Note there is a lot of white in the tail (varies between races) and can be seen during flight.
One egg on leaf litter.

Anthony's Nightjar (Nyctidromus anthonyi)
   


Similar to Little Nightjar found in the Amazon, but vocally different. Found in dry scrub in west Ecuador and Peru, and also called the Scrub Nightjar. Note white throat on male, but no white on wings or tail even in flight.
