Rare and local in the eastern Andean foothills. Similar to Bicolored Antvireo, except that female has heavy white streaking in front.

With many color variations in its large range. Note the round darker area behind the eye (ear) on both male and female. Common and widespread from sealevel up to 1500m, and usually close to the ground.
