Usually found in wetlands (Colombia) to dry arid areas further south. Note white band on upper undertail. Compare to slightly larger Band-tailed Sierra Finch with same tail band.
Immature. Upper bill (culmen) more rounded than [Plain-colored Seedeater], but indentification still not 100% certain.
