Sometimes has big white puffs around thighs like a puffleg hummingbird (western race only?). Often lifts wings after landing. Comes to feeders.

A species with amazing iridescence hard to appreciate in a photo. Male and female alike. Found in a narrow altitude range around 1400m in Colombia and Ecuador.
