Genus: Arremon (10 species, 20 worldwide)

Genus Arremon are Brushfinch found in the dense understory of tropical American forests. Arremon are consistent in shape and size (around 16 cm.).

Spottily distributed at mid altitude levels (1200m) in Panama and Colombia.

Note immatures have a black bill. The subspecies in Magdalena Valley, erythrorhynchus, has a different vocalization

Often seen on the ground at edge of trail. A bit larger than most 'new world sparrows'.
The immature is uniformly colored.
