Found below 1500m. Small and timid; uniformly streaked yellow and olive from neck to belly. Found at lower altitudes than the similar Streak-necked Flycatcher. Note white mark behind eye.

Compare with Ochre-bellied Flycatcher, but note McConnell's has plain wings (no wing bars).
Immature from front with food stuck to feathers.

Note pink black-tipped bill. Generally found in dense forest, but some birds are found outside of the forest (adaptation to deforestation?)

Found above 1500m. More grey head and more streaking around neck than Olive-striped Flycatcher, which is found below 1500m. Note white mark behind eye.
